Travel time by car

We are planning a trip to Houlgate Normandy in June. We fly into Beauvais, Paris and I was wondering how long the drive will be and has anyone ever done it.

Are you staying in Camping La Vallee? Houlgate is lovely. Some nice restaurants in the main street.

Thanks for the replies. Looked it up and it will take two hours or so. That%26#39;s not too bad. Yeah we are camping at La Vallee. Any trips or restaurants you can recommend?

If you are there in April, some of the seasonal restaurants may be closed.

We are not big fish eaters, so we liked L%26#39;Arbre a Pin (has a lovely sea view) and Le Patio.

Houlgate has a pedestrianised street and most of the restaurants are there. Parallel to this street is the lovely promenade.

In the area...

Lisieux (light some candles for the Grannies!!)

Down the road from Lisieux is an excellent Calvados Distillery: Chateau Breuil www.chateau-breuil.fr/

The drive is lovely and only about 15 minutes from Lisieux.

In the opposite direction, Bayeux is beautiful. The tapestry and the Cathedral are worth seeing. I love walking around the town.

My suggestion would be just to get a map of the area (we get AA and Michelin maps) and just explore. The whole area is lovely.

BTW - head out of the camp site, turn right head down towards the sea and you will come to a set of traffic lights (facing the sea). Just before these lights there is a left turn up a hill. Drive this road and you will go over the hill and down the other side. There is an intermarche supermarket down this road (look for the signs)
