Any suggestions for modest price ( 30 euros) restaurant in the 14th/ Montparnasse area? I have never been to Paris and looking for unique and un-tourist spots to experience. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Try La Langousterie if you are into seafood. Their salmon tatrtare is not to be missed. It is at 145 Blv du Montparnasse on your way to the Closerie des Lilas when coming from the Dome or the Coupole.

yymca6: Thanks for the suggestion!!! One of my fellow traveler%26#39;s is wanting fresh raw oysters. Do you know if they offer oysters as well? We are counting down the days til we land in Europe!!!

Pizza Cotti, at 13 rue d%26#39;Odessa, is still one of my all-time favorite cheap eats. You won%26#39;t find many tourists there at all (well...maybe you will after this post), but it%26#39;s under 20€ for dinner and wine, and it%26#39;s good Italian food (my favorites are the Lasagna and Cannelloni al Forno). Very casual dining. Don%26#39;t expect much...except that the food will be good, and cheap.

Le Wadja, at 10, rue de la Grande Chaumiere. (Near le Dome and la rotonde)
|||
Les Pinguoins, rue Daguerre, very fine French food at moderate prices, and Les Tontons rue R. Losserand if you like steak tartare (they have every tartare you want!)
Le Tournesol (rue de la Gaîté) for a trendy bar.
The best Paris kebab is found in Rue d%26#39;Odessa !

Big thank yous go out to all that answered my question! Now I have to figure out how many Parisan meals I can enjoy in three days! As a self declared %26quot;foodie%26quot; I am more than excited to be traveling to the gastronomic capital of the world.We will be there next month!

to liming: Yes they have oysters at La Langousterie but you also have some at Le Dome and at another restaurant at the corner of Boulevard Montparnasse and Boulevard Raspail (can%26#39;t remember the nmae though).

liming, La Cerisaie, at 70, blvd Edgar Quinet in the 14th (Ph: 01 43 20 98 98) is a small neighborhood bistro near the Montparnasse Tower that serves excellent traditional French bistro fare with Southwestern French influences. It%26#39;s elbow-to-elbow in terms of space, but the welcome is warm and the food worth the visit.

Hi,
Try to get or at least browse the TimeOut %26quot;Eating and Drinking in Paris%26quot; at your local bookstore. It has excellent reviews and coverage. It brreaks into food types (haute cruise, international, french ect.) I have been to many of the restaurants mentioned in the book, and they were true to the review. Hope this helps and Good Luck with your culinary adventure.

Wow, thank you everyone for your suggestions! To SDWanderlust: I went out and got the time out book on Paris restaurants and plan to take it with! It does seem to be a good guide and I am sure we will use it, as well as the suggestions everyone posted. We have decided not to pre book reservations before we leave and make reservations for dinners when we arrive in Paris. We are counting down the days to our arrival!!
