We will be arriving in Paris end of May for two nights. I have been researching areas to stay and have decided on one of these two areas. It will be our 25th wedding anniversary and would be avail. to spend appox. $400 to $600 USD per/nght. Would you suggest we stay at the following: Hotel Royal Monceau, Hotel de Vendome, Hotel du Louvre,or Hotel Balzac, and, possibly Hotel Napoleon, but latter does seem out of the way for walking to most sights. We really would love something extremely romantic with views or a balcony but with the ability to walk to most sights. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Any suggestions, please. Also, good small cafes to sip wine and people watched would be greatly appreciated, too.

You also have the Chateau Frontenac Hotel (watch a video here: myvideoplanet.com/hotels/france/paris/champs… ), it%26#39;s in the 8th, near the Champs Elysees

I found the 1st to be a more romantic area for me - walking along the Seine, the parks, the Louvre. I just found the Champ Elysees to be a noisy busy street. Not sure about the hotels you%26#39;ve listed as we were budget travellers.

Thank you for your replies. I will focus my search on hotels in 1st. If anyone would like to comment on romantic hotels in 1st, I would be thankful.

Relais St. Honore in the 1st is very nice.

I%26#39;ve never stayed at the Hotel Brighton but they do have some balcony rooms and the views look terrific. It%26#39;s very centrally located. Request a view and a balcony. http://www.brightonhotelparis.com/
I did stay once at the Hotel de Louvre. It was a very large room (maybe a junior suite?) on the top floor I think, which had a small step out balcony and overlooked the Palais Royal garden. It%26#39;s a nice hotel, and has a wonderful breakfast.
