Paris to Bordeaux Roadtrip

Hi All

Myself and 4 friends are planning a road trip from Paris to Bordeaux over the easter break for 5 days. We would be greatful for any suggestions on places to stop/stay along the way. We are currently thinking of Tours %26amp; Blois but would love some help in planning an itinery.

Tous and Blois are less than an hour apart, so staying in both may be a bit of a waste.

Probably would be best to stay somewhere like Chaumont-sur-Loire or Blere for two nights and spend some proper time exploring rather than changing hotels. This would place you in the middle of the main (well - eastern section of the main) chateaux.

Another option would be to spend a night around blere, and another around Chinon, as this would allow you places like Azay-le-Rideau and Villandry,

Probably not best to stay in Tours itself as the traffic can be a bit iffy.

What sort of accommodation were you looking for(hotel, Chambre d%26#39;hote, etc) and what is your rough budget?

If returning a car at the Bordeaux St Jean station I have some advice.

2 Nights in Blere sounds good! Where else would you recommend somewhere half way between Blere and Bordeaux as we would like to spend our last night before we fly out in Bordeaux.

In terms of accomodation, we probably have a budget of around £30 each per night

La Rochelle is convernient between Blois and Bordeaux, with plenty to see
