Drinking age in Paris?

Curiuos as to what the drinking age is? Can teenagers have a beer if with parent?

Drinking age in France is 18

16 for beer or wine with a meal, otherwise 18.

It%26#39;s also worth noting that beer strength seems to be stronger in Europe than in the States, I think beer is about twice as strong in terms of alcohol content so you may want to keep an eye on the amount consumed.

Beer in Paris is also incredibly expensive (7 or 8 Euros per 500ml glass), wine on the other hand is fairly reasonbly priced.

Take care with Belgian beers sold in some French restaurants such as Duvel and Chimay. They can be around 8% to 9% in alcohol volume but delicious nevertheless.

You can be 14 and still order a beer in France. Laws are not like they are in UK. Spent many a lazy afternoon while I was %26quot;at school%26quot; down the bar savouring %26quot;demis%26quot;

Since you%26#39;ve posted this in London, as well, I think the best answer is that drinking age is whatever your mom and dad SAY it is!

I will be traveling to London and Paris this summer with my kiddos, ages 17 and 20 this summer. So we have had a debate going over the drinking age, and I certainly appreciate all the info! Here in the U.S. it is difficult to have a beer anywhere even with a parent present if you are under 21. Not that I am all for drinking whenever and wherever, but experiencing the London pubs and letting the %26quot;big%26quot; kiddos have a London ale in one has been a topic of conversation. Looking forward to being there again with kids in tow this time!
