Sunday morning in Paris

Hi everyone.

My partner and I are arriving at 05.30 at Gare d%26#39;Austerlitz on Easter Sunday. Our Eurostar leaves from Gare du Nord at around 2pm. Any ideas how we can fill our time? We can leave our luggage at the station, like walking and outdoor sightseeing, love pavement cafes and people-watching. Not much for museums and art galleries, we just want to have a relaxing morning pottering about, but no idea where we could get to in the time available.

Thanks for reading!

Hi

With the limited time that you have you might consider getting on the RER C line going 1 stop to St Michel and walk around from there. You will be right at Notre Dame. Visit the cathedral making sure you walk behind then perhaps over the the Ile de St Louis. If time permits from there you may want to walk up to the Pantheon then back to ST Michel.

Hi Again;

I just realized your arrival time of 5:30am is going to get you in before much is open. You may find an early brasserie but then again you may not find anything open until near 7am.

But if it%26#39;s quiet roaming that you want being on the quais around St Michel and Notre Dame as it%26#39;s getting light on an Easter morning may be just the thing...

Ile Saint-Louis and Ile de la Cite are wonderful places to stroll, especially along the river, on a Sunday. Usually, most places are open Sundays, but don%26#39;t know about Easter Sunday.

Thanks so much for taking the trouble to reply, I will print out your suggestions and take them with me.

Happy travelling!

If there are clear skies on Easter Sunday morning, why not watch the sunrise, from the steps of Sacre Cour?

There will also be a Les CONSIGNES--Left Luggage--facility at GARE du NORD---lower level..near the TAXI rank...Opens at approx. 06:15 AM---where you may leave your bags while out %26#39;n about.

Would the markets be open on Easter? If so, the Sunday marche at place Bastille is wonderful (but gets going around 9) or the bio market on Blvd Raspail. I%26#39;m a sucker for markets whereever I go, however.
