Chamonix - trips to Mt Blanc etc

Hi. We are planning to spend a day in Chamonix at the end of June and would like to take a trip on the rack and pinion railway and cable car up Mt Blanc. As time is going to be very tight - we will be travelling on by car towards Northern France that day - I wondered how much time I would need to go up to the Aiguille du Midi and then into Italy and back to Chamonix by coach. Also, how busy does it get at that time of year - Ive read that normally unless you get there by 9am it gets very crowded. Many thanks for any advice.

You will not have timew to do the railway (Montenvers) and the Aguile du Midi + Helbrunner gondola.

You are quite correct it will be busy after 9am but you can reserve a lift time online.

Go to www.compagniedumontblanc.com or www.chamonix.com

thanks for the information. The other option is leaving our hotel in Briancon and arriving at Chamonix at about 10.30 /11.00 am. If we did that could we do the proposed trip in a day, and if not what could we do, do you think?

You could do one or the other but not both. Well at least in my opinion.

My choice would be the Aguile du Midiand try to reserve a timeslot.

Failing that go to either Le Brevente (other side of the valley) or Les Grands Montet in Argentiere.

This has by far, my opinion only, the best views of all.

if you go to Argentiere grab a meal at Chez Anais or Le Dahu.
