Good Morning! This will be the hotel we%26#39;ll stay at durning our worldwind England/France tour. I would SO SO apprecite any info on this hotel. Yes, I%26#39;ve read the reviews, but would like some deep detail. Such as location, restaurants/bakery near by, food in hotel, tourist info center and late night dining.
Thanks so much Theresa in Detroit

Hi Theresa
The Churchill is perfectly located right in the centre of Bayeux with parking just behind, bakeries a-plenty all within a couple of minutes walk, as are the restaurants, the cathedral and the tapestry. The tourist information centre is about two minutes walk away. Can%26#39;t comment on the hotel food as I%26#39;ve never eaten there.

no resturant on site. just drinks can be served in rooms.

Thanks for the info! I can%26#39;t wait to get there. I will be traveling with a group of French students and Teachers of French. After the kids are a snug in bed I%26#39;m free to roam the city. So I%26#39;d like to eat what I%26#39;d like (Local Fare) and check out the city at my pace. Is is likely the city rolls up the sidewalks after 9 pm? I hope not.
Thanks again, Theresa in Detroit.

We stayed at the Churchill last summer and it was perfect for us. We had two rooms. One was quite small, the other very large. Both were well kept and very clean. The hotel does have breakfast, which we opted for one morning. Nice breakfast room...very light and cheery. I am pretty sure it was a basket of breads (those were good I remember) and then yogurt and cereals. Going out the back of the hotel puts you on a main street loaded with restaurants, a grocery store, shops, etc. There was a bakery about a block up that we went to. The staff at the hotel were exceptionally helpful in several respects. We are headed back to France in a year, and this will be another stop for us.

As for everything closing up by 9pm... depends which time of year you intend to be there Theresa. During the winter months it probably will be dead at that time of night. In the summer you will be fine.

The Churchill Hotel was wonderful last August. The owners are incredibly friendly and helpful. The city is very pretty near the hotel and there are some very good places to eat nearby. Just ask at the desk for recommendations. The rooms were very nice, clean and quiet for a loaction within a small town.
