Hi, dear members, please help me: 22 years ago I was in Paris last time, now in May I like to show this wonderful city to my sons (21, 15),unfortunately we have only 3 days. Of course I like to make the best of this short time and I think the right choice of our hotel will be of great importance. It should be nice and interesting surrounded - what about Montmartre? Or should I better try to get rooms in Marais? I Like the idea of sitting on the top of Hotel Carlton%26#39;s where there should be a nice look over Paris and Sacré Coeur - or is it not such a nice hotel? Should I better try to get rooms directly near Place du Tertre (interesting for the boys?) My budget is small, like to find something under 100 Dollar/Night. Thank you for any help...

I%26#39;d strongly recommend staying in the Marais. Montmartre is a lovely area to wander around in, but in the Marais, you%26#39;ve got a it%26#39;s much better choice of genuine cafés where real Parisians hang out (rather than the more touristy ones on Montmartre), and I personally find it much more lively and interesting.

The place du Tertre is one of the most disagreeable tourist traps in all of Paris -- perhaps it was interesting 22 years ago but certainly not now -- and Montmartre is way too far out on the periphery for such a very short visit -- you will burn up all your energy and time commuting
The Marais is a good area -- but 100$ is only 66E -- it is hard to imagine finding a room for three people that is not a bed bug filled dive for that kind of money.
Once you find a hotel -- and I would figure out how to at least double the budget for the room then turn over the planning to the kids and let them decide where they want to spend most of their time -- of course you are included in the planning -- but given so little time, you really want to make sure they get to choose what they most want to see and do
travel with teens is great fun -- hope they have a lovely trip

Hi, thank you for these very helpful tips. My budget of 100 Dollar (about 66 €) was meant for each of us, so the room (or better 2 rooms) can cost about 150 -180 € a day. Is that more realistic?

I%26#39;d probably opt for a room for 3 and that amount is while not lavish probably good enough for one nice triple. Try to make sure it is a real triple if you go that route and not a double with a tiny bed wedged in
I%26#39;d go for the Marais or the Latin Quarter for such a short trip as they are an easy walk to so many great things

these apartments in the Marais: www.jeudeclefs.com were recommended to me, by a friend who stayed there with her teenage sons. They have some vacancies in May.
