Hi,
I was planning to take my partner to Paris for his 21st birthday as he%26#39;s always wanted to see the Mona Lisa. I was just wondering if its possible to go for a day? and not stay overnight? Which airport is closest to Musée du Louvre? Or would it be best to stop over night? Thank you for any help.

Absolutely! Yes. Yes.
I%26#39;m not sure how close Birmingham is to London, but you can take the Eurostar from London to Paris in about three hours (although I believe I have read that there is now something like a bullet train that runs the route).
People with long layovers often take a few hours to explore the city. I will take what I can get when it comes to Paris.
Good luck!

Personally, I%26#39;d just make a long weekend of it, but If you do go for just a day, go on a Wednesday or Friday, when the Louvre is open later (until 10pm), just in case you get delayed while traveling.

Thank you both. Flights seem to be around £100 each and that seems a bit steep for just one day (£100 sounds good if it was for a weekend or something) so might check out the eurostar or maybe an overnight stay. See how my budget is. Thanks again. Any more replies would be very much appreciated.

We just came back from a day trip to Paris.
We went from St Pancras on the Eurostar for £59 each return!
I booked it in November, maybe if you book well in advance you get a better price? I enjoyed our day out there as we got to see some main sights and could have fitted in a museum but spent more time eating! We arrived at 11am and got the 9.13pm train home - this was enough for me to be honest - have some great photos of Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Seine, Notre Dame etc.

From Birmingham you would have to get the train to London which would put the price up somewhat and increase the time.
The most we have paid for a cheap flight to Paris from Liverpool is £90 with Easyjet but usually we get flights cheaper (including taxes) if we book at the right time.
You don%26#39;t say when you want to go or how much you want to pay.
BMI fly fron East Midlands and I think Ryanair from manchester and there are other budget airlines.
If you google %26quot;cheap flights to Paris %26quot; I%26#39;m sure you would find a cheaper flight. Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursdays are usually cheaper. And early morning and late night flights are also cheaper.
We drive to liverpool, (Easy on M6 and M62 from Birmingham park at Liverpool ) and leave our car at the airport.
It%26#39;s so convenient to fly from the North of England to Paris.
Good luck
