We will be traveling in June from Barcelona to Malaga by car. Anyone have an idea how long that will take and what coastal towns to visit?

First of all these places are in Spain, not France so your question would have been better posted there!
Anyway, my route finder says it is 1009km or 630 miles from Barcelona to Malaga and optimistically about a 10 hour drive without stopping.
The city of Valencia is about half way and well worth a visit - I spent some time there a couple of years ago.
Granada is on everyone%26#39;s itinerary.
Suggest you move to the Spanish forums and seek further advice there.
Have a nice trip.

Hi topsey2
We have travelled this route a few times. The road is good but between Barcelona and Murcia in particular it can have very heavy truck traffic. Travel on weekend days if you can. There is an altewrnative route via Cartagena and Almeria but I think the road is not quite as good. You could do this trip in one long day but it would be a pity not to stop over. We have made stops in some of the coastal towns such as Gandia, Javea and Denia which are just a little off the freeway but easy to access. Javea (Xabia)is probably the most scenic of these. Calpe is also quite scenic but I would avoid the larger cities and resort areas (i.e Valencia and Alicante where the traffic can be horrendous). Our favourite spot is Peniscola but that is only a couple of hours south of Barcelona so not exactly a half way point - well worth a detour and easy to access. I would not go past Granada which is on the inland route to Malaga without stopping. However is only about an hour from Malaga so again not a half way point. The Macia Hotel(Real de Alhambra) is a new extremely comfortable hotel with an easy bus access into the centre of town and has parking facilities. (try booking.com for a good rate). From Granada a lovely drive is over the mountains to the coast at Salobrena and then along the coast to Malaga. The main freeway takes an inland route through hills covered with olive trees. The scenery is wonderful most of the way so you%26#39;ll have a great trip. Happy travelling!
