We are thinking of taking our caravan to Annecy next August. Does anyone know best routes in with a touring van or any good sites

You should start with a search on Annecy forum, as travellers already posted about campsites :

I would avoid Camping Les Fontaines as there is a negative feedback from irish travellers:

Hi cass19
We stayed at a site at the south side of Annecy near Doussard i think it was La Raviore booked through the camping %26amp; caravanning clubs overseas travel service %26#39;Carefree%26#39;.
We took the crossing from Hull to Zeebrugge, which meant we needed an overnight stop en-route.
We opted to stay in a village called Parcey which is not to far off the autoroute but far enough away from it not to cause any disturbance overnight, we arrived at around 6 p.m.after a nice steady drive from Zeebrugge, this left us with a steady drive the following day to the site near Annecy where we arrived at approx 2 p.m.When you get nearer the Alps the autoroute gets quite steep but there are plenty of services (Aires).Hope you have a great time the area is stunning.

We took our caravan to Annecy last summer. It all depends on what sort of site you require. Have you children %26amp; want pools etc? We are 2, 50 odd year olds who wanted a less commercialised, more rural type site. |We stayed at Les Champs Fleury %26amp; really enjoyed it. It is only a 5 min. walk from the lake, has the cycle route passing the entrance %26amp; has a friendly owner who is most helpful AND speaks English. The other caravanners were a good sprinkling of nationalities which made for a more interesting visit.Facilities were good %26amp; clean. Hope this is of some help. If you want to know any more just ask.
One other thing, we found Annecy extremely busy!! We arrived on a sat. teatime %26amp; it took us about an hour just to get thr. Annecy. A time to avoid!!!
We just loved Annecy %26amp; the surroundings. We cycled into the town(about 6 miles) easily. Lots to do in the area too.Really beautiful.

Just looked at your profile. You must be young? Annecy has plenty for younger people, from sailing, hangliding, roller blading, swimming, gorgeous views, cycling, fantastic walks but probably not loads %26amp; loads of night life........lots of good eating houses tho.
