Money is not a matter but I won%26#39;t take a taxi from cdg to apartment because I want to get that feeling getting out of metro station and viola! its Paris!
AND
Although going to eiffel tower via bus is more convenient that night but stll make an effort to take metro 6 or 9 to go to trocadero and see eiffel tower for the first time.

It%26#39;s your vacation - do it like you want.
I hadn%26#39;t heard a bus was more convenient than the metro for visiting the Eiffel. Maybe it depends on where you are staying, which you don%26#39;t mention.
|||
Well, how much luggage are you traveling with? I think that all of the Metro stops have stairs that you will have to negotiate. Most of them do not have elevators.
I have never had a problem on the Metro, but if I were you, I would be extra vigilant with any large baggage.
Have a fantastic time!

Quai St Michel is where we%26#39;ll be staying. Did the research already. RER b goes there all the way and exit 5 has escalators.
This is about being better or not when money isn%26#39;t an issue.
|||
How right this can be? Any suggestions?

I wouldn%26#39;t be inclined to bet the ranch on taking the bus at night. After 7 PM or so many public bus routes either decrease service significantly (decrease frequency) or curtail service. So check the Schedule (HORAIRE) for any bus routes you may be considering to avoid standing at a bus stop waiting for a bus that never comes.

I cannot even count how many times an RER/metro station has had escalators that don%26#39;t work. If you don%26#39;t mind hauling your luggage up and down stairs and then navigating down the crowded sidewalks with all of your luggage as you make your way to your hotel...go for it. You said that the RER %26#39;goes all the way.%26#39; Goes all the way to where?
However, I wouldn%26#39;t do this in a million years with my luggage. Perhaps you%26#39;re packing very light. I try to pack light, but I still have a large suitcase and my carry-on and purse or totebag. Way to unwieldy for the metro and the sidewalks.
Good luck!

I have never caught a taxi from any European Airport into town.
Far too expensive and usually slower than the train.
|||
Well said WizardofAus. But if there%26#39;s a chance that you look like you don%26#39;t know what you%26#39;re doing or if it looks like it%26#39;s your first time, you make yourself a target.
|||
I have never NOT taken a taxi or pre-booked shuttle from European airports to my hotel. Maybe a bit slower (assuming you know what you%26#39;re doing on the train/metro system and you don%26#39;t get lost), but well worth it after a long flight. As the OP stated, this has nothing to do with money, so the expense in this case is a non-issue. This poster wants to pop up out of the metro and be %26#39;in%26#39; Paris. To each their own. The popping up may be more difficult with a lot of luggage. Consider everything, 4aned. As I said before, perhaps you pack light. Perhaps you%26#39;re in excellent physical shape and have no problem dragging luggage up and down stairs. If that%26#39;s the case, or if it%26#39;s just a dream of yours, then by all means, you should do it. But you absolutely should consider all of the advantages and disadvantages of doing so.

dear 4aned
I don%26#39;t understand the question. We have already been through the How doable? and the RER st michel? thing.
We ALWAYS do our research first and use public transport from European city airports unless we are arriving at an unsocial time.
Airports are usually geared to getting travellers efficiently to city centres. So usually have good transport links.
We would rather spend the euros saved on our holiday as we are ordinary people and not rich.
If you pack light, take one suitcase on wheels and take a small backpack instead of a handbag (which are limited on British flights anyway) its not difficult to negotiate the metros and streets.
We have never had a problem in Paris using shuttle bus or RER and metro.
It%26#39;s your holiday and if you want to enter Paris via the metro great! Go for it!
