Hello to All! Paris in summer (june),it would be nice to cool off with a swim after long days of touring.
Are there any public preferably-outdoor swimming pools in paris, or public indoor pools. Are there any that hotels let you use there facilaties for a charge, or are easy to get into for free.

Hi
Not sure where you are staying but if you go here
www.nageurs.com
and then click on the %26#39;Voir la fiche de%26#39; drop down menu on the left you can find pools by arrondisement.
Also some info here

I%26#39;m not sure if the Paris Beach event is happening this year but it tends to run mid-July to mid-August so you would miss it in June.

Lifetouch, I have found two that are near Jardin du Luxembourg (near where I am staying). If that is anywhere near where you will be staying, let me know and I will report back to you as I will be there next week.
The nageuers site already mentioned abouve is a good site as you can search for pools by area of the city.
All of the pools on that site as far as I know are indoor.
While browsing Google earth recently I did spot an olmpic size outdoor pool west of Paris but it seems to be very far away.

there are outdoor public pools -- I remember walking by one in the 20th when we lived there -- it had big umbrella like things shading it
the Plage is not about swimming so the August %26#39;beach event%26#39; won%26#39;t do you any good here -- it is sand along the bank of the Seine for sunning -- there is a road between the beach and the river and there is no river swimming -- there are a few sprinklers that people go under to get wet
it actually looks pretty gross although sort of charming in the abstract

It%26#39;s true, Paris Plage is not for swimming. They had a 28 mtr pool in 2004 but appear to have not repeated that.
I doubt anyone would choose to swim in the Seine anymore than they would the Thames :o)

Hiya, I can%26#39;t swim ! But my mate goes swimming in Paris, there are plenty of public baths - nice one by the Mosque area and also Place D%26#39;Italie - if you want exact locations reply and I%26#39;ll get details from her. She says that the etiquette is slightly different there, swimming hats are a MUST and there%26#39;s some kind of getting dressed / drying your hair ritual that she got the wrong way round !

Hi;
There are over 30 public pools (piscines) in Paris.
Most are indoor but some have retractable roofs that are used during summer. Many have sun decks for summer sunning.
All are well maintained, very clean and used regularly by Parisians of all ages.
Hours during school periods vary with the pool. Many open for the public from 7 to 8 in the morning. then again from 11:30 to 1pm.
The reason for these public hours is that private classes and school classes are given during most of the day.
Saturdays and Sundays hours are usually 7 or 8 until 6pm.
During school vacations hours are usually 7 to 6pm with many night extentions.
Entrance fees are about 2.50 half price for kids.
You can buy a carnet also that saves you, but the best deal is a 3month pass for 30euros. One of the best summer deals in Paris if you happen to be in the City for the summer.
Some pools have check in desks where you leave your clothes after changing. Some have locker rooms where you key in your own PIN code.
There are regulations on bathing suits for these pools. Speedo type suits or tight hugging boxer type suits are requires. No baggy suits allowed.
Also you must have a swim cap.
Showers required before entering and you also enter through a footbath disinfectant.
Pools are usually divided into three distinct sections roped off. One section is for free swimming, one section for lap swimming, usually done in a counterclockwise oval, and one section reserved for private lessons.
