Looking for inspiration for our trip to the Cote d%26#39;azur! We are two ladies in our 50s and have booked a flight to Nice in July for 11 nights. We are unsure whether to stay in Nice or to try one of the surrounding resorts - I have been told Antibes could be a good place to try. We usually hire a car but weren%26#39;t planning to for this trip, we thought we would try the train and bus service. Can anyone recommend any hotels/apartments/resorts please?

My suggestion would be to stay in Nice. From there you can get public transportation to most of the interesting surrounding towns. For those places where public transportation is not an option (such as St Tropez) you could rent a car for the day or hire a driver.
I%26#39;m a big fan of the Le Grimaldi hotel in Nice. It is well-located, has a good deal of charm and has the most helpful staff I%26#39;ve almost ever encountered.

Nice is definitely the best place for entertainment and a good base for travelling. For apartments try www.nicepebbles.com, they are more flexible on arrival and departure dates than other apartment owners and their apartments are more homely than a hotel room.
