I value the advice so much on this site, and was wondering what is the best way to Hotel Saint Christophe on rue lacepede and Place Monge, from CDG airport. My wife and I have 2 roller carry-on bags and shoulder totes. We are in good shape, but will be on a all night flight, arriving on a Tuesday morning about 8:30am. I was thinking of a few options. I hope to get some expert, experienced opinions here. Thanx in Advance!!
1. Air France bus to Gare de lyon and then taxi. Not sure of exact cost for this!
2. RER B to Saint Michel, and then either 47 bus to hotel, or metro transfer to cluny sorbonne to cardinal lemoine, then walk a few blocks.
3.RER B to Luxembourg, then taxi, again how far and what cost.
4.RER to Chatalet des halles, then metro from Chatelet. ( People on this site have said this is a good metro station to avoid)
5. Roissy Bus to place Opera, then taxi or metro
6. Or, Blue Van Shuttle, but am concerned about reliablity, for both to hotel and return to airport.

After a flight like that and given only your 6 choices, Option 3 looks the best. The taxi shouldn%26#39;t be much more than 6€ but be aware that there is a taxi rank across the street from the north RER station sortie but I almost never see any cabs there. Another option might be option 2 but substitute a cab for the bus. The 47 bus stop near St-Michel is actually several blocks east of the RER sortie. The cab shouldn%26#39;t be any more than 10€ and the taxi ranks on the Notre Dame sortie (sortie 5) are always well stocked.

Thank you Metromole...your advice is taken to heart...........Do you think option 2 with taxi is better than option 1 with taxi, as far as cost and convenience. Also, which way back to the airport, from the hotel do you think is best? Are taxis easy to get from Place Monge Rank around 8-9 am on a weekday for the return trip to RER station, then onward to airport. Also, are there escalators at any of the stations.....Thanx again, and looking forward to more input!!.....Au revoir!

%26lt;%26lt;Do you think option 2 with taxi is better than option 1 with taxi, as far as cost and convenience.%26gt;%26gt; Yes I do and it will be half the price. The construction work directly in front of Gare de Lyon makes even walking out of the station chaotic. I don%26#39;t know exactly where the AF bus drops you but I personally avoid that area, at least I will till the construction is finished.
%26lt;%26lt;which way back to the airport, from the hotel do you think is best?%26gt;%26gt; Option 2 with taxi - in reverse.
%26lt;%26lt;Are taxis easy to get from Place Monge Rank around 8-9 am on a weekday for the return trip to RER station, then onward to airport.%26gt;%26gt; I don%26#39;t remember that taxi rank. Maybe someone else can answer that.
%26lt;%26lt; are there escalators at any of the stations%26gt;%26gt; If you get off the train and follow the signs to %26quot;sortie 5, Place du Parvis Notre Dame%26quot;, there will be escalators all the way from the train platform to street level. On your departure day, that same RER sortie requires descending 2 flights of stairs from street level to the ticket booth level, then escalators from there on. There are escalators up and down at CDG.

My mapbook says the taxi rank at Place Monge is a %26quot;borne%26quot; taxi, which I believe means you call one to that spot, rather than they park and wait for customers.
The hotel can arrange the taxi the day before for a set pickup time - there could be a small charge of a few Euro on the meter from their starting point.
The Roissybus to Opera (rue Scribe), then the metro to your stop at Place Monge wouldn%26#39;t be bad - but you should park your bags against a wall with your spouse to watch with eagle eyes while you go get the metro tickets.
Go to www.easycdg.com to find the location of the Roissybus pickup at each terminal.
Go to www.ratp.fr
put %26quot;opera%26quot; into the %26quot;plan du quartier%26quot; and click the button. You%26#39;ll get a map showing rue Scribe, place de l%26#39;Opera, the metro entrance location. You%26#39;ll get off at place Monge - get the map for that stop, and you%26#39;re %26#39;good to go%26#39;.

We are going to paris and staying at St. Christophe hotel as well in April, but will be arriving by train from Switzerland. I emailed the hotel directly and asked for directions, and they responded right away. Hope that helps.

If money is no object get a taxi or a private transfer car. We used Paris Shuttle this weekend (March 1/2) and they couldn%26#39;t be faulted. We had a shared shuttle but they also do private transfers (if you%26#39;re worried about not getting a taxi) and they speak English (both on the phone and their drivers).
If money is an issue then our hotel suggested the train from CDG to a central station followed by the Metro.
