hi, was wondering if anyone could tell me if nice is expensive for food, drink, travel? How does it compare to other cities?

Not as expensive as London. You can %26#39;do%26#39; quite cheaply in Nice, but stay clear of the Negresco. Bus travel is very cheap.

Travel; MUCH cheaper than UK; about £1 on a bus for miles and miles; £3 for a day ticket locally.
Drink; Wine MUCH cheaper; beer about the same.
Food: MUCH better, can be same price, can be dearer, certainly much better value.
Sadly the £ is falling against the Euro so costs are going up but that applies to Spain, Italy, etc.
What other cities? Rome; Paris; Madrid; Bradford?

Overall, Nice is cheaper than any city in the UK for dining, drinking and travel. You can eat well at 14 Euro for a 3 course meal, wine is good value at about 8 Euro for a half-litre of house wine and both train and bus services are cheaper and more reliable than in the UK.

All bus fares along the coast, as far as the Italian border, are now one euro. Trains are also cheap. There are dozens of restaurants in Nice where you can get a three course, fresh cooked meal of local produce for around 15 euros. In my view, given what it has to offer, Nice is the best value resort in Europe.

food is quiet reasonable and lots of bars in the old town have happy hours untill 9pm. trains are a great way to get around and very cheap.
