Hello,
Here is some information for anyone planning to rent an apartment in Paris through this agency. We rented for 1 week in August 2006.
The agency we used was Lodgis at www.lodgis.com
The people at the agency were easy to work with and very accomodating with questions. Upon choosing a property the process involves:
1/ completing the application
2/ paying the agency fee (by visa)
3/ paying the landlord a deposit (wire $ ie Western Union - fee app $25)
4/ paying damage insurance of 3% (by visa)
5/ upon approval of the contract, then communicating with landlord about access, location, phone etc (by e-mail)
6/ Upon arrival, paying full rent (some in cash, some in Int. bank draft
7/ Upon departure receiving deposit back, minus cleaning fees (60 euro) and perhaps an electicity fee.
We were very happy with our apartment for 4 people (#3133166)
It was 1/2 block from the metro %26quot;Les Gobelins%26quot; - a direct route to Gare de L%26#39;est or 1 change to the airport. Also 1/2 block to a laundry, bakery and drugstore. Across from the apartment was a little fruit market. This location was an easy walk to Rue Mofftard, a street with gourmet food shops and many restaurants. Also a leisurely long walk to Notre Dame
Our apartment had 2 bedrooms, a livingroom, kitchen and good bathroom with a shower , a phone, TV, sterio, washer/dryer. The advantage of an apartment over a hotel is the space of extra rooms, being able to have breakfast and coffee at the apartment instead of going out and paying for it, enjoying cheese and wine in the comfort of a home environment after a busy day as a tourist. The cost for the week was about CAN$1,100 for a week or CAN$165 a night (USD $140 app) for a very comfortable and nicely appointed apartment. A little more effort/planning/paperwork but worth it for a weeks stay.
regards!

Hello,
I started working with LOGIS to rent the appartment in Paris,
they mentioned the 500eu security deposit.
Did you use travel. checks for the deposit? What is the guarantee that I will get the money back?
And also the problem is that owner speaks only french and I do not know enough to communicate well.
Did anybody from LOGIS helped you to communicate with an owner?
Thank you.
Luba
