weight loss or gain during your week in Paris

With all the lovely pastries, cheeses, chocolates, breads and wines in Paris, do you gain weight when you are there for a week? I%26#39;m hoping all the walking and stair climbing we will be doing will counteract all the calories.

So, based on your experience did you lose or gain weight? How much?

Fortunately, I have always tended to lose a little weight in Paris, or at least not gain any. I think this is due in part to all the walking, and in part to a tendency to eat quality rather than quantity in France!

In Paris, I always eat whatever I want, and way more than at home! I also walk a lot, lots and lots, more than at home. Every day I promise myself not to walk so much!

My clothes are always loose on the way home. One trip, I went by myself, walked all over, lost ten pounds, and it%26#39;s stayed off!

Unfortunately I gain weight. Because of all of the walking and stair climbing I do though, I probably gain less weight that I other wise would. I absolutely allow myself to eat pastries and decadent desserts, chocolates, breads, cheeses, etc. while in Paris. For me, they are part of the experience.

I do get really strong calf muscles from walking in Paris. (The number of stairs are truly amazing.) I have a love-hate relationship with the stairs in the Metro, Museums, and apartments. I know they are so good for me and I hate them.

I was in Paris for a month and I probably gained 5 or 6 pounds. I lost 3 of them very quickly when I came home. The other 2--oh well.

If you find yourself gaining weight when you travel there%26#39;s a good chance you%26#39;re retaining water. Flying, not drinking enough water, drinking alcohol, walking, all make you retain water. Drink extra water to flush it out, you%26#39;ll feel, look better and weigh less.

Both my husband and I certainly lose weight in Paris, walk, walk everywhere, stairs and no TV (the laptop gets a workout though with all the photos and emails). Don%26#39;t weigh ourselves so haven%26#39;t got a figure of how much.

We tend to eat more and we have at least 1 bottle of wine each day but by the end of the visit the clothes are loose and we feel terrific, but sad to be leaving. I think also no stress of everyday work life adds to this feeling of well being.

Enjoy, can%26#39;t wait for 25th April for the next visit to Paris.

Mine balances out I%26#39;m 98 lbs soaking wet - so I%26#39;m not overly concerned about it as long as my clothes still fit for the ride home. I eat a ton - but the portions are smaller in Paris, and you will walk - I eat many many macaroons.....just enjoy!

I stayed exactly the same actually. But I think I did lose a few pounds during the first three days. It was the last two days that were troublesome. I became so anxious that it would be a while since I had breads and pastries at my disposal, I truly overcompensated by eating as much as I could the last two days.

We%26#39;re just back from a week in Paris, where we ate very well. We both gained weight - but only a few pounds which we quickly lost after just a day or three back home. I wouldn%26#39;t expect the %26quot;walking%26quot; done in Paris to keep the pounds off. It%26#39;s more like strolling - hardly a calorie burner! I try to hold myself to just one big meal a day. If I really let myself loose and ate everything I wanted when I wanted, I don%26#39;t think I%26#39;d recover. What a great way to gain weight. Go, eat and don%26#39;t worry. A week in Paris is worth a few pounds.

I tend to lose weight or at least break even .

%26quot; strolling in Paris%26quot; no way, we WALK miles and miles everyday. I can walk from Notre Dame to ET, and that is a long way, especially if you do it my way, which is to get lost many times( I am always going in the right direction, but the streets do not, LOL ) . I also tend to walk quickly, even at home, but especially in Paris where I figure %26quot;strolling%26quot; makes you a target for pick pockets and scam artists, I am never approached as they can%26#39;t keep up to me. LOL
