Anyone know of a reliable website for 220 to 110v converters and adapters?

Unless you are thinking of bringing an electrical appliance back from Europe to use here, you probably want it to go the other way? Any travel store (and most luggage stores) will have things like this, and also Radio Shack (and I%26#39;m guessing their web site as well) is a good source.
That said, some things you might be taking with you (e.g., cameral or laptop or cell phone) probably won%26#39;t need a converter but just a plug adaptor. There are several threads on this site about adaptors and converters, and how to tell which one you will need. For things like hair dryers or clothes steamers, I would suggest that you check out the local Walmart or similar store for dual-voltage models (usually not very expensive), and just get a plug adaptor.

Yes I do and they are in Chicago but I seriously doubt anyone%26#39;s real need for such an item.

Thanks guys.
I%26#39;m just looking for something that will allow me to use a laptop and now that you mention it a hairdryer for the girlfriend while in Paris.

The transformer on your laptop most likely states that it accepts voltage 110-220. All you need is a $3 adapter.
As for a hair dryer, purchasing a 220v model (which I recommend) is probably less expensive than a converter and a great deal safer. These are available at Darty, Carrefour, or possibly FNAC for under 20 euros.

laptoptravel.com
has adapter plugs for $9.95. Your adapter (that box on the cord that actually connects to your laptop and has a plug for another cord) should actually already be ready for 100-240v, you just need that plug. They will sell you the correct cord based on the model/make laptop you have.
I can%26#39;t offer advice about hair dryers.

I%26#39;d definitely buy the hair dryer there. My mom used a converter with hers a couple years ago, and her hair dryer burned out. I had my lower watt hair straightener plugged into a converter this year and managed to blow out the converter itself, FWIW.

I just purchased a universal converter from Wal-Mart for about $20. It has Northern Europe, Africa and a couple of other adapters with it.
