Lunch in St-Tropez

We%26#39;re planning a drive along the coast for Wednesday, March 19, starting at Cassis. We%26#39;ll probably be in St-Tropez at lunchtime. Are any good, reasonably priced restaurants located near Quai Jean Jaures?

My map site (ViaMichelin)does not show parking facilities in St-Tropez. Is this true? If so, I assume parking is a real headache.

Any advice on restaurants and parking will be sincerely appreciated.

Parking is so easy, there is a huge car park right next to the port which will have lots of spaces in March. Just drive in on the main road, it will divide and become one road just at the entrance to the town, keep in the left lane, you will see signs %26quot;Parking Port%26quot;, follow these which means you turn left and there is the car park.

For restaurants I suggest you walk along and look at the menus and choose the one you like the look of, just make sure there are other people there (ie it is popular).

Have fun

JBart,

Thanks! It occurred to me to look at St-Tropez on Google Earth. I see the parking area you mention. As for a restaurant/cafe, we%26#39;ll do as we usually do when in someplace new, which is to browse around as you suggest.

There is another thread %26#39;good food in St Tropez%26#39; which has some information. I have just looked at www.coteaufleuri.fr which we must find, however it is not on the coast for your trip.

Places right on the quay are very expensive, but you must visit and walk along and maybe have a coffee or something, there%26#39;s nowhere else quite like it!

Thaks for the suggestion. Coteau Fleuri looks excellent. We may visit Grimaud on the way to St-Tropez. We usually prefer a light lunch, though, so we hope to find a place for that.

Hi,

No pb parking in St Tropez in March, as mentioned above. There%26#39;s the Parking du Port, the first at the entrance of town, and the Parking Place des Lices in town.

The Quai Jean Jaures is great for drinking a cafe creme or sipping a cool drink and watching %26quot;les people%26quot; or the yachts or the people watching people. The cafe Le Senequier is a famous place for this activity.

For reasonably priced restaurants, I like Le Sporting on Place des Lices. Also on Place des Lices is Le Cafe, formerly Le Cafe des Arts. It%26#39;s been around for a long as an artist hang-out, no inexpensive though. Its web site: lecafe.fr. The restaurant La Ponche is excellent and slightly more upscale than the above two. You pay a little extra for dining in St Tropez.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the tips. Le Senequier and Le Sporting are now on our list. I like your avatar, azuralive.
