Looking for a hotel in Honfleur in May. We will not be spending much time in Honfleur (late afternoon to next morning), and will have a car. Are we better off getting a hotel by the port or in the old town? Also,a place with parking is important. Thanks.

You will struggle to find a Hotel with parking right in the Old Town, there are some, but they don%26#39;t have %26#39;car parks%26#39; and the streets are tiny and convoluted.
The Mercure Hotel is by the port, and has a decent car park, but of course it is a %26#39;chain%26#39; Hotel, decent as any Mercure will be, but lacking character. Etap (also Accor) is next door and a good %26#39;overnighter%26#39; but this has a small car park only. Across the road is a large Municipal car park which you can use - I think you have to pay for it though.
IF you only have one night and time is short, I%26#39;d go for the Mercure or Etap because it is very easy to walk to the old Harbour from there, and see all the delights of Honfleur. Some of the other Hotels with parking are further out as far as walking goes.
