Hi, We are looking for a good, clean hotel for our family 3 x adult, 1 x 9yr and 2 x 3yr old for 1 or 2 nights stock up and mini holiday with a car. Ideally the hotel should be with a bar or central to a town and a kid friendly menu, just for a night, not too bothered if outside of Dunkerque or Calais - what advice?!
Also interested in any recommendations on war museums / family activity for 1 of the 2 days?
Many Thanks
Steve

we`ve done both places. If only for 1 night theres not a lot of difference, although for war memorials i think youll find more around dunkerque. Calais is ideal in the sense that hotels are in the centre and its near the port whereas its about a 20 minute drive to dunkerque from the port. Personally, i prefer Dunkerque, but i go for the shopping. Belgium is not too far away and on the border is a small theme park called Plopsaland. There are many beaches with restaurants lining them. There are 3 hotels near the port of Dunkerque ranging in prices, Campanille, kyriad and Premiere Classe. The nearest large hypermarket is Auchan about 2-3 miles away and an Ed shop (like lidl) across the road.
Also Dunkerque is cheaper than Calais for food and drinks.
