I am taking my husband to Amboise in the Loire Valley in April for his birthday.
Can anyone recommend a nice place to eat out. We don%26#39;t want anywhere pretentious or too expensive and would prefer a traditional French resturant so we can sample local dishes.

Amboise isnt a place over-endowed with good eating.
Try Le Cheval Blanc in Blere - just down the road and highly rated

I used to live very near Amboise until 4 years ago, and a good %26quot;every day%26quot; restaurant, as opposed to a more sophisticated (and expensive) restaurant, that we used to go to was L%26#39;Epicerie in La Place Michel Débre at the foot of the chateau.

An excellent restaurant, but in my opinion perhaps more sophisticated and expensive than chhd is looking for.

Menus start at 21€. Ok, so that%26#39;s more than I would usually pay, but it is hubby%26#39;s birthday and he is worth it............
Just ask him!

About 2 miles out of town.
Also Roseraie at Chenonceaux has an excellent restaurant.
