The Camargue

Hi,

I require some advice about day trips to the Camargue!

My husband and I will be in the South of France for 8 days in June. Aside from a 3 day stay in Nimes which is already booked, we are totally flexible where else to choose as a base, but would like to include a trip to the Camargue in our plans. The problem is, we do not drive and are relying on public transport to get us there and back.

Firstly can anybody suggest the best base from which to explore/access the Camargue (Arles maybe?).

Secondly, does anybody know of any tour/trip operators with whom we can book a day trip which includes transport to the Camargue area?

We will consider exploring by bike, but from which towns would this be most do-able?

Any advice on general accessibility to the region would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

This area is not generally accessible without a car. However, from the Arles bus station there are departures as follows:

07:50 10:00 12:15 16:00 16:00 17:15 18:15 18:35

From Montpellier bus station there are 2 buses: 09:30 and 13:30
