ATM's in France

My ATM card uses Plus and not Cirrus. Will Plus work in Paris?

look for my posts on exhanging before you leave or when you get there dollars for euros and there%26#39;s a whole bunch of info.

But I did find out that cirrus is for overseas and pulse is for the us. Your bank should have on their website atm locators then you can find the address and use yahoo maps to map it from your hotel to the bank. That%26#39;s what I did.

But look for the posts on the subject because there is alot of good info.

Cheers and have fun,

Cards that work on the Plus system work fine in Paris, just check the ATM to make sure it has the symbol.

Make sure to check how much your bank charges for each withdrawal, in a lot of cases you are better off taking out larger amounts a few times than smaller amounts more often.

Be sure to call your bank and credit card companies before you leave to tell them when and where you are going, so your account is not blocked for possible fraudulent use when you try to use it in France.

We were fine using ours - I was so nervous - about the language and ATM%26#39;s - but they actually have a selection for English.

Have a wonderful time!

%26#39;..CIRRUS..%26#39; is the international transaction %26#39;..network..%26#39; operared by MasterCard. %26#39;..PLUS..%26#39; is the international transaction network operated by VISA. You won%26#39;t have any difficulty at all locating an ATM in Paris (Azerbijan or Zimbabwe) that accepts PLUS network, VISA-branded ATM cards.

|||

ATM%26#39;s have signs with the various acceptable logos. Just look for the VISA logo.

It%26#39;s good to know what time your bank if offline for overnight processing and figure in the time change.

One thing I do find using ATMs in other countries is that sometimes for no apparent reason an ATM will reject your card, yet one next to it is fine. I%26#39;ve also seen this happen with a German friend staying in the UK. So if your card doesn%26#39;t work in one ATM, don%26#39;t panic, try a few different ones.

|||

If and when an ATM rejects your card and tells you to contact your bank, don%26#39;t panic, just try again asking for less money. As the dollar becomes weaker, this happens to us all of the time.

Just curious about any language options when using ATMs in France. Do you have an option to choose English? I suspect it might be confusing to try and decipher the French instructions. The last thing I%26#39;d want to do is make the usual 3 errors and have my card frozen

Yes, the machine we used had language options - it was quite a relief!
