Hello,
my husband is after a serious accident, but he started walking again some weeks ago and we decided to celebrate my birthday in Paris.
I need to plan everything and bear in mind his disabilities in walking.I need to know:
1/As we are coming to Orly, what are the conditions there -i.e a lot of walking or moving pavements, lifts?
2/How can we get to Marais from Orly?By bus? And how much appx. by taxi?
3/Where is the nearest bus stop for L%26#39;Open Bus Tour from Metro St.Paul?
4/Is it reasonable to buy CityCard-what kind or just rely on LopenBus and taxis?
5/Taxis -special tips?
I know it%26#39;s alot, but I feel such a responsibility of taking him for that adventure, maybe it is madness and we should quit it?
Looking forward for your answers and thans alot in advance.

First of all ask for assistance from the airline as depending on airline there may be more walking involved than you hope for.
Take taxis and buses whenever you can. There is however Orlyval than can take you to center of town and then taxi.
Where in Marais are you staying? Marais is big. There is Metro Saint Paul and then there is the rest.
Check website for open bus. It stops at Hotel de Ville and Notre Dame and probably Bastille but better check itinerary.
I would take taxis as much as possible. Most rides withing town are under 10-15 Euros. Go to taxi stand and wait. There is one at metro Saint Paul.
Good luck, enjoy, and keep on going!

My husband has limited mobility and we are also traveling to Paris. Please look into the disabled access at various attractions. Places like Versailles, the Lourve, etc. offer discounted admission and the ability not to wait in line before getting inside. You just have to have proof of your disability (we are bringing our car hang tag).

As noted, notify your airline of your husbands disability when you make your reservation...and again when you check-in with your airlime for your departing flight, to make certain that it is annotated on the flight%26#39;s manifest. Your airline may (probably will) be able to provide assisitance getting from your arrival gate through arrival formalities, to the terminal exits.
For your purpose, you will be best served by simply taking a TAXI PARISIEN from the regular rank just outside your ORLY arrival terminal building, directly to your final destinationin the Marais. ORLY is closer in to Paris than CDG, so taxi fares will be less--30-35€.
For the nearest L%26#39;OPEN TOUR stop to SAINT PAUL Metro (as well as the locations of all of the other L%26#39;Open Tour stops throughout Paris) check the L%26#39;Open Tour web site for maps, diagrams of the four(4) interconnected %26#39;circuits%26#39; offered and transfer points and stops along each circuit.

Nearest stops to SAINT PAUL METRO--
HÔTEL de VILLE--48 bis rue de Rivoli (btwn: rue des Archives %26amp; rue du Bourg Tibourg)
PONT dse SULLY--3 Blvd. Henri IV (on Île Saint Louis)
For the rest of your public transportation requirements, familiarize yourselves with the Paris bus system and carry the telephone numbers of a couple of the larger radio dispatched Paris taxi companies...just in case you can%26#39;t find a convenient taxi stand or hail a taxi on the street

And in the event that all-the-wheels-come-off-your-wagon..also carry the business card of your hotel...often times if you find yourself in a real fix, telephoning your hotel can help you to sort it out and get you %26#39;home%26#39;.

I%26#39;m a huge fan of L%26#39;Opentour, but would not necessarily recommend it for your circumstances.
The best seats are on the upper deck which is reached with a very narrow, curving, staircase. If you will be sitting on the lower level, you may as well use the city buses.
The Marais stop is not on the main route which goes around central Paris. You%26#39;d have to transfer buses going and coming.
L%26#39;Opentour is not the best or most economical way to get around. Routes are circular and one way. You could take a lot of taxis directly to your destinations in lieu of L%26#39;Opentour tickets. And, L%26#39;Opentour stops around 5-6PM.
Note that you must go to a taxi stand for a taxi, as you cannot just flag one down in the street wherever you happen to be, so be sure to get yourself a map which includes the taxi stands.

Actually you can hail a taxi on the street. The technicality is that taxis are not suppose to respond to curbside hails within 500 meters of a regular taxi stand...but this distance is pretty much at the discretion of the individual driver%26#39;s estimate.
|||
With apologies, that should have read within 50 meters of a regular taxi rank.

While Kevin is, indeed, technically correct, I%26#39;ve seen taxi after taxi ignore people trying to flag one, even though there was no taxi stand within many blocks. During the day, anyway. I%26#39;ve never had a problem hailing one evenings/late at night.
And, one time, one pulled up to us in the pouring down rain on Blvd Saint-Germain (for which we were very grateful!).

That%26#39;s in the nature of taxi drivers the world over.....but more often than not, the driver may simply be responding to a radio-dispatched call and simply hasn%26#39;t %26#39;dropped%26#39; the meter and turned the dome light off....and at certain times during the day and evening taxi dispatchers may %26#39;concentrate%26#39; taxis at specific locations/areas. That a taxi stopped for you in the rain is nothing short of miraculous...since it%26#39;s a pseudo-scientific fact that taxis dissolve in rain water.

Thank you all so much!I shall -thanks to you organise a lot of things, and I know-
-we have to skip metro and zones card
-use taxis -we stay near St.Paul,so should be OK
-have ID (God knows how hard and time consuming it would be to get one here..)
-get in touch with the airliner
Thank you all so much again!
