I am in the process of booking 2 apartments in France in June. I am renting both for 1 week. I have received the rental contracts from the owners and both are looking for %26#39;Une attestation d’assurance villegiature%26#39; (an insurance on the rental property for the duration of my stays). I live in Ireland. Can anybody advise the name, telephone number or web address of a company who can provide me with this?
Many Thanks

I%26#39;ve rented apartments and houses in France several times and never had to provide this. Where did you find the rentals? There are lots of websites mentioned by posters here for apartments and houses. I have used www.vrbo.com and www.frenchconnection.co.uk with no such requirement. I%26#39;d be a little concerned about someone who wanted me to provide an insurance policy...a damage deposit, yes, but insurance?? That strikes me as really odd.

No it is not unusual and has been covered before on the forum. Toutou explains it very well in this post

Thanks for the replies. I have now looked at Toutou%26#39;s response on this earlier query. I contacted my own House Insurance company and they say they have never heard of such a thing. I contacted AXA in France and they advised that I would need to have my principal residence in France before I could get an extension on it to cover a rental property in France - so I guess I%26#39;ll go back to the property owner and advise that I can%26#39;t get this. Thanks for the help anyway!
