Hi,
I booked an apartment in Paris owned by Anne and Vincent Chagnon for June, I paid the deposit 150 euro, everything fine so far except that I can%26#39;t get in contact with the owners anymore. Can anybody please tell me if they stayed there or anything that might help us?
Thank you very much

Can you provide us a bit more information? How did you find their apartment? Is there a website?
You say you can no longer contact them. Could they perhaps be on vacation? Do you have their telephone number? Address? Email?
How and to where did you send the deposit? Via bank transfer, check in the post, etc.? Do you have a rental contract or any written reservation confirmation?

I found the apartment on the internet and i paid using paypal so I thought that everything is ok. I do have their name, email adress and phone but no contract so far. I am waiting for a contract for a few weeks now and I am starting to get worried. Called them, left a message and still waiting ....
the flat is posted on apartfr.com

I know that when we first booked our apartment, I sent in the 500 Euros for our deposit and couldn%26#39;t get ahold of the owner (not the same) for almost 2 weeks after that. To say the least, I was frightened! All of my emails bounced back to me, phone calls weren%26#39;t returned, and faxes went unanswered. I was about to contact my bank, when an email popped up in my inbox. He%26#39;d been on vacation and was deeply sorry for not telling me. His email system had gone down while he was gone, and that%26#39;s why they all came back to me. So, it all worked out. I hope this is your case. Don%26#39;t worry, yet. Keep trying.
When in June are you going? (just to give us an idea of the time frame you have)

Have you tried the portable phone numbers listed on their website?
Since you say you are arriving in June and we are already May 14th, I found the following comment on their website interesting.
C. THE DOWN PAYMENT PROCEDURE
1. The reservation payment is of 150 Euro per week/apartment (or 250E)
2. One Month before the check-in 50%of the rental price should be transfered to us by Paypal or Western Union. ATTENTION! The reservation is considered as finalized only after the payment of 50% of the rental price.
You must be about at that one month prior to arrival point. You have not paid the 50% of the rental price?
I also found the following statement from their website kind of odd.
7. Once the down payment received we send you the receipt eMail, we sign the contract the day of your arrival.
I read this to mean after the %26quot;reservation payment%26quot; of 150 Euros is paid, nothing is sent to you. Only after the %26quot;50% of rental price%26quot; is paid one month prior to check-in will they then send you a receipt.. A contract is not signed (or it sounds like even given to you) until arrival. So, if I%26#39;m reading this correctly, you are given nothing until after they have received the 150 euros and the 50% of rental payment? Is this they way you understood it?
I also noted there is a 350 euro deposit due upon arrival - in cash.

They have some very interesting check-in / check-out rules too. From their website:
c) Attention:
- the 1st hour of the Check-in assistant%26#39;s time is included in the rental fee (between 2PM and 8PM only). For additional hours or after 8PM, 20Euros per hour will be requested. So
- be sure that you have everything mentionned herein before to enter the apartment.
- if you are delayed let us know ASAP about it. We will inform the The Welcome Agent ( +33607637712 or +33672863409). In any case call from the airport or 50km fromParis.
- in some cases early (before 2PM) check-ins are possible but please request it on reservatrion
Also, they say that the 350 euro security deposit is due upon arrival, along with the remaining 50% of rent in cash. However, they say they return the security deposit after you have left and they have inspected the apartment via PayPal.
Perhaps this is normal practice. I just thought it was a bit odd.
Have you tried using the phone numbers noted above to reach someone - perhaps a %26quot;Welcome Agent.%26quot;
I%26#39;m sure everything is probably fine. This is a holiday week in France (Thursday) so perhaps they have decided to take the week off.

We are going on the 26th of June just for three days. I just wanted to be perfect because is my parents first visit in Paris and my mum dreamed all her life about going to Paris.
I didn%26#39;t know that this week is a holiday week in France, I guess I will keep trying...
Thank you very much for your answers

Did you try phoning the numbers in my last post for the Welcome Agents?
What happens when you phone the owners? Do you get a message machine?
|||
Phoning the numbers for the Welcome Agents is actually a very good idea, thank you for pointing it to me. I%26#39;ve got the voicemail calling the owner but i will keep trying.
Thanks again

I have had a terrible experience with them. They are completely unresponsive. They do not respond to emails. The apartment was a complete dump. They still have not returned my security deposit and I have had to make a claim through PayPal.

Hi,
I%26#39;m planning to book the Louvre #3 %26amp; #4 apartment from Anne and Vincent. Did you end up getting the apartment from them and how was it. Did you also have a hard time getting your security deposit back? I do think it is odd that you don%26#39;t get the money back right away, considering you%26#39;re giving them cash.
Please advise,
I really like the pictures, but after reading the posting, I%26#39;m very concerned.
Thanks.
